Journal Entries
A journal entry posts directly to accounts. Use it for anything that is not a sale, a purchase or a payment. Create one from Common → Journal Entries.

Structure
Section titled “Structure”Add a row per account with either a debit or a credit amount. Total debits must equal total credits before the entry can be submitted — the app will not let you submit an unbalanced entry.

Common uses
Section titled “Common uses”- Opening balances when you start using SME Books
- Depreciation charges
- Salary and statutory deductions — in Bangladesh, Provident Fund, Gratuity and the Workers’ Profit Participation Fund
- Bank charges and interest
- Correcting a misposted entry
- Year-end adjustments
Entry types
Section titled “Entry types”The entry type labels what the journal is for — bank entry, cash entry, journal entry, and so on. It is descriptive and does not change how the entry posts.
Submitting
Section titled “Submitting”As with other transactions, drafts post nothing. Submitting writes the entries to the general ledger.
